Pongal is a harvest festival celebrated by the Tamil community. It is a celebration to thank the Sun, Mother Nature and the various farm animals that help to contribute to a bountiful harvest. Celebrated over four days, Pongal also marks the beginning of the Tamil month called Thai, which is considered an auspicious month. It usually falls on the 14th or 15th of January each year. The festival is celebrated across the country, with a distinct regional essence even though the forms are different but the purpose remains the same, marking the onset of the spring season.
Every year, Pongal is celebrated with joy in Kavery Matriculation School in a splendid manner. Members of the school community organize various types of activities during pongal celebration at school, and our students perform various kinds of activities during the pongal festival, having an amazing time, before they break off for their Pongal vacations. Smartly dressed in colorful ethnic wear, they perform many enthralling songs and dances. The entire campus will be filled with festive looks with colorful Rangoli, decorated Pongal pots, sugarcanes and other decorations enhancing the festival spirit.
You will never be happy if you continue to search for what happiness consists of. You will never live if you are looking for the meaning of life.
The various celebrations and events at the school were designed in a manner to evoke & expose the students’ inner most talents. Our programs include songs, dances and skits, Kolam (floral art), and poem declarations as part of pongal celebration in our school, depicting its significance. Opportunities are given for students to learn about culture & traditions letting them participate enthusiastically in all activities to promote pongal festivals among the community.
